Waning Moon in Virgo

In the Moon’s waning phase, Virgo can be the world’s best assistant at deciding exactly what needs to be reduced or released. Her powers of discrimination and ability to hone in on flaws can be a real boon in helping us decide whether to keep something or to finally let it go.

The earth signs are focused on day-to-day, physical concerns. Capricorn gets down to business. Taurus looks at the bottom line of costs and profits. Who’s left to do the work? Virgo.

I’m hard pressed to think of a better time to declutter ~ stuff, eating habits, even character flaws ~ than a waning Moon in Virgo. Sounds like work. Maybe a lot of work.

It is.

This is why Virgo is known as the worker of the zodiac. She actually loves it. LOVES it!

During the Aquarius lunation, as the seasons change, Virgo can help us decide if those boots will last through another month of snow and salt. Will those items in the pantry that are left over from last year serve us better in the compost pile than in our bellies? Will we ever really get around to mending that beloved pair of socks with a hole in the toe? Is it time to recycle those magazines we cling to that have been piling up on the bookshelf. I mean, will we ever really read them again?

Beyond stuff, Virgo can also be an ally when we’re focused on our health instead of our sensory satisfaction. In what part of our lives would it be wise to bring in a bit more austerity? The Virgo house of your chart can get you started on deciding what to keep and, in the waning phase, what to release.

Virgo on the ascendant? How many white shirts do you really need?

Virgo in the 9th? Yes, it’s okay to donate or recycle all those Bibles that you’ve found in Grandma’s house. Or your college notes. You really can let those go.

In the 3rd? Get rid of that old pile of newspapers!

The 4th? It’s even okay to recycle old photos. If you don’t know who it is (or don’t like that cousin, uncle, aunt … ), it’s okay to throw them away. Seems weird to throw out photos. Some people find it “wrong.” But it’s okay. Really. You’re not throwing away a life. Just a photo.

On the 11th? Which friendships or associations are you serving that don’t serve you equally? Are you doing ALL the work in your club?

The 12th, Pisces’ natural home? Look around. The answer may be closer than you think.

There’s one thing that should never be thrown out during a waning Virgo Moon. Your Venus. Hold on to that. It’s what turns the practical into magic and the useful into the beloved.
