Turquoise, Stone of Sagittarius

From my home and garden site:

Lunar Home and Garden

There’s a New Moon in Sagittarius today which made me think to wear my turquoise earrings. Turquoise is considered a star stone of Sagittarius, with topaz more commonly recognized as the birthstone of November.  Whether you’re a November or December born Sagittarian, this is your stone.

Mercury Dance through Aquarius

Nikola Tesla, genius

Mercury enters Aquarius, January 12, where he will stay until the end of the month. I can’t help but think of Nicola Tesla with Mercury in this position. Wireless light bulbs in the 1890’s? Ahead of his time, don’t you think? There’s some interesting information about Tesla’s chart at the bottom of this post. But on to Mercury… Continue reading

Venus Retrograde Shopping Alert

giftA quick note here. Take it with a grain of salt or ignore it altogether, but . . .

If you plan on making luxury purchases for Christmas, consider making those purchases before Venus turns retrograde on December 21st. There’s a good chance that luxury purchases made during the retrograde period won’t get used the way they should. No one wants to lay out a lot of money on a gift that doesn’t pan out.

I learned this lesson the hard way and have been mindful of it since. Just as Mercury Rx is taken more and more seriously by the general public, we need to do the same when our money is involved with VenusRx. Venus rules the money sign, Taurus the Bull, so when she does an about-face, things can get as wacky as MercRx days. It’s just that it’s your money, not your letters, that can go screwy.

Venus is retrograde through January 31, 2014, so don’t get pulled in by a savvy salesperson pushing a luxury item that goes on sale right after Christmas. Bide your time and sit on your money like a good bull.😉

As I said, take this info with a grain of salt. Sometimes we just have to get that big gift for the someone special in our life, retrogrades or not.

Venus is also the ruler of the love sign Libra. Will someone unexpectedly come back into your life? It’s certainly a possibility. Some reconnections are good. Others aren’t. RE-think those RE-connections.

Astrological Picture Book ~ 3rd Decan Taurus and the 7 of Pentacles

There are two standard ways to read the minor arcana cards astrologically. One is through the decans, the three 10° divisions of each sign. The other is the Golden Dawn system, which assigns a planet in a sign to each of the minor cards. See Part 1 for reading reversed cards astrologically as retrogrades or eclipses.

Taurus and the Minor Arcana

  • 1st Decan ~ 0.00-9.59° ~ 5 of Pentacles
  • 2nd Decan ~ 10-19.59° ~ 6 of Pentacles
  • 3rd Decan ~ 20-29.59° ~ 7 of Pentacles

7 of Pentacles ~ 3rd Decan Taurus or Saturn in Taurus

Cosmic Tarot

The third decan of Taurus (20-29.59°) is ruled by Venus and sub-ruled by Saturn. This is the Taurus/Capricorn decan. The patience, determination, and practicality of Taurus is flavored with the seriousness and dutifulness of Capricorn with a good business sense. The extreme may swing toward materialism and possessions or love and position.

Patience is strong in this decan. You know the expression “A watched pot won’t boil?” I bet the guy in this card wouldn’t have a problem with that.  He could definitely wait it out and get it to boil faster. This is the Taurus that will not quit. There’s no aversion to hard work and long hours, and a solid payoff is usually expected in return.

I have a cat, Lily, who’s a big time vole hunter. She can sit for 4 hours straight staring down a vole hole, just waiting to make her move. She’s like the man in this version of the 7 of Pentacles. She has endless patience and unrelenting attention. She’s a Capricorn, btw.

Fears of financial difficulties can be heightened, cautioning this decan to hold on to what they’ve earned rather than spend. Bountiful returns on an investment are to be expected ~ one little seed can produce a healthy, abundant plant that will continue to produce year after year in perpetuity. Or, in Lily’s case ~ she gets the vole.
