Welcome to Moonaliscious Monday—a weekly treat where the Moon’s journey through the zodiac inspires our kitchens and our taste buds. Each sign brings its own flavor, mood, and magic. Whether you’re brewing a midnight cocoa, spicing up popcorn, grounding yourself with a creamy coffee, or actually cooking a meal, Moonaliscious Monday invites you to taste the Moon’s rhythm one bite at a time. And, since Monday is the Moon’s day, it seemed the perfect time to post this first offering. This week’s Monday Moon is 100% Scorpio. Ready to take a bite?
Some of you may be thinking, “what’s this got to do with astrology?” Short answer: a lot! Every plant, animal, stone, or anything else you can think of has an association with a planet and/or the signs they rule. When you indulge all your senses into astrology instead of just mental images or horoscope predictions, a whole new world opens up. You can shop for makeup with Venus, secure your home with Saturn, or go to the movies with Neptune. It’s all there for the taking. Every day, every hour, every minute.
Let me tell you why I love pairing food with zodiac signs so much. Back in the day, I led a Moon Circle in New York City. We met every month at New or Full Moon to talk about things related to the Moon’s sign. It was always enlightening to hear the various opinions and emotional responses to whatever issue we were discussing. The true highlight of the evening, though, was the potluck dinner we shared. I’d send out a notice about Moon announcing what we’d be talking about and always, ALWAYS, included a list of food and drinks associated with the sign. You wouldn’t believe how amazing the Cancer New Moon food was. That was a meal I’ll never forget. Anyway. . . here’s the “first course” of Moonaliscious Monday.

Scorpio Moon
Intense, Sensual, Transformative
(Dec 14-17)
Theme: Deep flavors, rich textures, mysterious aromas.
- Tea: Hibiscus + black tea with a touch of cinnamon (dark red, tart, and bold).
- Moon Milk: Warm almond milk with cacao, cardamom, and a drizzle of honey.
- Mystic Midnight Cocoa: Recipe below.
- Snacks: Dark chocolate covered almonds, spiced olives, or smoky paprika or BBQ chips.
- Dessert: Molten lava cake, or a couple of those deliciously over the top Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate squares with Lava Cake Filling.
If you prefer to stay away from snacks and focus on delicious scents for you home, try an essential oil blend of Patchouli, clove, and ylang ylang. It’s sensual, grounding, and mysterious. I also really like Black Licorice perfume scent for Scorpio. Allure magazine refers to it as “the black leather of fragrances.” Is that Scorpio or what?
Special Hot Cocoa Recipe for a Scorpio Moon
Mystic Midnight Cocoa
This cocoa is rich, sensual, and just a little dangerous—perfect for Scorpio’s vibe. I keep instant cocoa on hand because when the mood hits me, I’m not going to pull out the pots and pans. I do mix in some cream or half and half in place of half the water. It’s deeper, richer, and just plain yummier. Add in some of these goodies to create a hot steaming cup of Scorpio’s intensity.
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
- Pinch of cinnamon + cayenne (for Scorpio’s intensity). I have to admit that I am seriously drawn to spicy chocolate.
- Whipped cream + shaved dark chocolate on top
I hope you are able to enjoy at least one thing associated with Scorpio in the next few days. And, please, let me know in the comments if there’s a food or drink that you associate with Scorpio.
