How to Read Moon Changes
The day and date are at the top, with void periods in the middle, and daily Moon sign and phase at the bottom. Read down the column to see when the Moon begins its void period and the time it enters the next sign. Voids are periods of time when the Moon vibe can be a little wonky causing events to be wonky, as well. Things don’t turn out exactly how they’re expected.
Here’s how the “Moon Changes” works. On December 1, the Moon is in Sagittarius. We can also see that the Moon is New at 1:22am on the 1st. On December 2nd, the Moon is void in Sagittarius from 10:48am EST until it enters Capricorn at 4:10pm. The color code helps us know the element the Moon is in. Orange is for fire, green for earth, yellow for air, and blue for water. The Moon is still in the New phase.
What is a Void Period
The Moon-void-of-course period begins when the Moon makes its last aspect to a planet before entering the next sign. The void period ends when the Moon changes signs. A void period can last a few minutes or for hours, sometimes overlapping days. There is not a void period every day.
How Void Moon Periods Affect Your Life
Generally, void periods are times to avoid starting something new, shopping, meeting someone for the first time, new hair style.
Let’s say you want to make a Sagittarius style quiche with leeks and onions while the Moon is in Sagittarius. When do you bake it? Any time on December 1st and before 10:48am on December 2nd. Why? Because the Moon goes void at 10:48am on the 2nd. So? What could happen? WHO KNOWS?! Maybe you’re short one egg, or you discover that your onion has has gone bad. Now you have to stop everything and run to the market. Maybe you burn the crust or the bottom of the quiche is soggy. Maybe you mistakenly set the oven for 300 degrees when the recipe said 375. Maybe you have to leave suddenly and have to take a half-baked quiche out of the oven. How do you handle that?! Bottom line–the quiche didn’t turn out the way you wanted. That’s what void periods can be like.
It can work in unexpected ways, too. Maybe you have to get to the airport for a 5:00pm flight and you leave at 2:00pm when the Moon is void. Traffic is awful with lots of twists and turns that weren’t expected. You’re a nervous wreck. Will you make your flight? You get to the airport in time only to find out they double-booked your flight and you’ve lost your seat. BUT!…they put you on a 5:30 flight and upgraded you to first class! It’s a one in a million shot, totally unexpected.
Experience has taught me that voids usually work out more like the first example than the second. They’ve also taught me that sometimes absolutely nothing happens to affect an outcome. But I have had some mini-disasters that did occur while the Moon was void. Play it safe.
Intuition and Voids
I’ve heard that void periods can be very intuitive times because the Moon is unencumbered by other planetary energies. I couldn’t say for sure. Try it and see.
