Take It Easy: Full Moon Aspects

This Aries Full Moon is very volatile with the Libra Sun and Aries Moon squaring both Mars and Pluto. Sounds like a fight I don’t want to witness, much less be in. Be on guard for the next two weeks, the Full Moon’s period of influence. Think before you speak. Pause before you jump. This is an active Grand Square/Grand Cross. Basically, that means we’re getting hit from all sides.

Mars in Cancer will not hesitate to protect and fight for what it loves. Pluto in Capricorn is hard-pressed to relinquish any of its power. Add a square from Pluto to Mercury (watch your mouth) and the Jupiter/Saturn square (responsible idealism) to the mix.

Names for this Aries Full Moon

Hunter’s Moon, Blood or Sanguine Moon, Leaves Falling Moon. The old names are quaint, but don’t really describe city life in the 21st century.

Make up a name for the October Full Moon that fits your locale or state of mind. Mine could be the “Summer Stays Late Moon,” because the warm temps lasted late into the year. It could be the “The Quilters Moon.” I do love cold nights snuggled under one of my Mom’s handmade quilts.

Instead of Leaves Falling Moon, I could call it the “Pines Falling Moon.” This name would remind me that a pine tree fell on top of my house, a gift from Hurricane Helene. This happened in the middle of one of the most frightening nights of my life. Make these Moon names personal and meaningful. They’re sure to stir up some memories for you. The Moon does represent memories, after all.

Tarot for this Full Moon

The 2024 Aries Full Moon is at 24 degrees placing it in the third decan of the sign. This is the Sagittarius decan with Jupiter as a sub-ruler. Jupiter/Sagittarius can add a keen need to follow a truly personal philosophical or religious path.

I’m reminded of King Arthur’s idea of right vs. might being the correct choice to live by instead of might vs. right. He dedicates his life to this idea. Of course, it all falls apart for him. Life really isn’t fair, it seems. True justice has always had a hard time triumphing.

These cards seem to advise us to avoid jumping into the fight. We should bide our time. Waiting for a better opportunity will help us advance our ideas and goals. Seeing as this is a rather volatile Full Moon with some unsettling aspects, that’s not bad advice.
