Astro Humor: Copernicus and the Camel Driver

Moon in ShadesTo get a clearer view of the heavens, Copernicus decided to undertake a long journey into the desert. He hired Ahmed, a camel driver, to be his guide. They set their tent up for the night, had a humble meal of flat bread and wine, and fell soundly asleep. Some hours later, Ahmed woke Copernicus and said, “Magi, look towards the sky. You are a very wise man. Tell me. What do you see?”

Copernicus replied, “I see millions of stars.”

“Ah, yes. And what does that tell you, Magi?” asked Ahmed.

Copernicus pondered for a minute, taking in all the information that the skies relayed to him. “Astronomically speaking, it tells me there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, it tells me that Saturn is in Leo. As to the time, it appears to be approximately a quarter past three in the morning. Theoretically, God is all powerful, and we are small and insignificant. Metereologically, it seems we will have a clear and beautiful day tomorrow. What does it tell you, Ahmed?”

“It tells me that you are dumb as camel dung,” Ahmed replied. “Someone has stolen the tent!”
