Sun enters Virgo ~ August 22, 2025

The Sun enters Virgo at 4:34pm, Aug 22, starting the month off with a celestial show that will end with a bang! Less than 12 hours after entering the sign, the Sun pairs with the Moon to give us the first of two New Moons in Virgo this month. The first occurs at 2:06am EDT on Aug 23. This timing gives an Aug 22 date for those west of the Central time zone. The second of the New Moons will arrive September 21, 3:54pm EDT ~ and this is where it gets interesting.

She is a Black Moon. There are several ways to define a Black Moon (and there’s plenty of moon madness about the differences online), but in this instance it is because she is the second New Moon in a sign. Why am I going with this definition? Because I’m an astrologer not an astronomer, so I’m interested in the sign the Moon is in.

There’s no super special significance to this, but I do consider it a bit of a “do-over” opportunity to work with our intentions and/or wishes from the first Virgo New Moon. But wait, there’s more. She is also a Solar Eclipse. I’ll have more on the Solar Eclipse later.

The Full Moon in Pisces on Sept 7 wants some of the attention, too, and actually kicks the whole thing off by taking on her role as Lunar Eclipse). She’s not visible in the U.S., but she can be seen in parts of Europe, Australia, and elsewhere. More to come on that, too.

Till then, Happy Birthday Virgos, and happy Virgo Season to everyone.
