The Moon Represents My Heart

…the moon metaphor is how I would represent my own feelings for someone. It isn’t that I love or don’t love you, because I do; it’s only that at some times my love is more obvious than at others. ~ Donn Lee

Those are the concluding lines of a beautiful post about the moon and the song, The Moon Represents My Heart, a well-loved ballad made famous by Teresa Teng.  Teresa was born in Yunlin County in Taiwan (01-29-1953, time unknown) and died of a severe asthma attack May 8, 1995 at the age of 42.

Teresa Teng

She is considered to be one of the five divas of Asian music and remains extremely popular. Her home is known as the Graceland of Taiwan and many fans still make pilgrimages to her home just as they do Elvis’ Graceland.

With a noon chart, Teresa has a Sun / Mercury/ North Node conjunction sitting right atop the Midheaven. She has a third house Cancer Moon and Taurus rising.

The song very simply and sweetly defines the moon as a symbol of love. We usually leave that to Venus in western astrology, despite the romantism associated with the moon.

You ask me how deep my love for you is,
How much I really love you…
My affection does not waver,
My love will not change.
The moon represents my heart.
