The first day of Capricorn, December 22nd, marks the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the longest night of the year and this year, one of the darkest. This is the dark of the Moon, the days prior to the New Moon of the 24th. Within this darkness, we create a womb for our hopes and expectations as we dream of the coming year. Let’s not forget that it is when the nights are coldest and darkest that the stars shine most brightly.
The Spirit of the Wheel Meditation Deck calls the period of Capricorn (December 22 ~ January 19) the Earth Renewal Moon. We renew and heal ourselves through sleep. It is one of the Moon’s greatest gifts to us. Our Earth sleeps, too, so that she may also renew herself. Her beauty sleep rewards us through the coming seasons. Tonight she dreams.
Sleep. Rest. Renew yourself. Dream of seasons yet to come.
Today, the Capricorn Sun trines Jupiter in Taurus and the Moon enters Sagittarius. A day of faith.
