Full Moon in Gemini ~ Yakety Yak, Don’t Talk Back

December’s Full Moon in Gemini has several names ~ Cold Moon, Moon Before Yule, and the Long Night Moon referring to the approach of the Winter Solstice on December 21st, the longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. The nights are obviously getting longer and colder, bringing a cuddly feel for tea, toddies, or something stronger, and long chats around the hearth ~ probably not intimate, deep conversation, though. Expect a lot of variety in those talks when the Moon is in Gemini.

If you’re feeling peppy and a bit chatty during these few days when the Moon is in Gemini, you are in sync with the signs. Gemini Moons are the time for just that. If you want to have a party where everyone’s mingling and enjoying themselves, schedule one for Moon in Gemini.

I came across a neat little box of questions called a “Chat Pack” at the bookstore recently. It’s full of conversation starters. I thought I’d pull one randomly as an example and this is the one I pulled:

What is the greatest distance you have ever driven in a single day?

Now that’s a great Sag/Gemini question!

Do some connecting when the Moon is in Gemini ~ by email, telephone, or even through the old fashioned modes of writing a letter or having a face-to-face conversation. Have you noticed how you pay attention to mail you receive with a handwritten address on it? It stands out. That used to be the norm, but is now a bit extraordinary and arouses our curiosity. Now it’s the standard preprinted address in a window envelope, a mailing label, or an email announcing “payment due alert” that we can tend to overlook with any amount of interest. (Deliveries from Amazon excluded, of course.)

Penmanship and caligraphy are also skills of Gemini. My penmanship has definitely declined, and my name abbreviated so that it’s now more efficiently written. I look at my signature sometimes like it was written by another me. I barely lift a pen anymore. Penmanship is really becoming a lost art ~ gone the way of cassettes and crinolines, far far away.

I have tons of gorgeous paper stashed away that I recently uncovered. All the paper was specially selected to create a mood with the words that were written on it. Fine stationery seems to be all but gone, along with the amazingly intoxicating smell of stationery ~ which seems to linger through the years, btw. (Some of you just had a moment of nose-talgia and got a whiff of that mimeograph paper, didn’t you?) Mercury is getting fleeter, my friends! Gemini is running faster.

If you’d like to slow Merc down just a little at this Full Moon in Gemini, do a anti-Gemini thing. Have a chat or a conversation wtih someone, and let them do all the talking. Just listen. Hear what ol’ Gemmi is saying, without any thought at all to what you’ll say in return. It could be a fascinating conversation. Yakety Yak. Don’t talk back.

How many Gemini keywords can you identify in “Yakety Yak” by The Coasters?

This “Happy Birthday” postcard is very Full Moon in Gemini. Postcards are definitely Geminian. Also note the December 1st date and the signature that appears to be from a nun, Sister Edna ~ definitely Sag.  I’m still researching if that’s the case. The card is from my private collection.

  1. Don’t know how gemini it is, but we watched Moonstruck last night for the first time in years.

    1. Gemini or not, we all get that Moon hittin’ our eyes like a big pizza pie once in a while. Fun movie.

  2. I miss all the wonderful writing accoutrements that have disappeared since the advent of email (though I love email too). I love writing and receiving handwritten letters. I have a seal with my initials that I used to seal envelopes.

    1. Oh, yeah…sealing wax. Very romantic and from a time when everything didn’t seem so rushed. I used to have some sealing wax and an initial, too. Wonder where they are now? I remember the metallic waxes were very pretty. I love stationery stores, and have a hard time staying out of them. My husband has the same fascination. As a matter of fact, we’ve dreamed about how cool it would be to have a stationery store. We both have Moon in the 3rd.
